Sound flows as vibrations through a substance. These pulses are transmitted through the the air, producing volume changes that our auditory system interpret as music. The frequency of these pulses determines the pitch of the sound, while the strength determines its loudness. Sound waves can be transverse, depending on the orientation of the oscilla
